The centre is entirely devoted to promoting and spreading the teachings of the Great Yoga Master Shri BKS Iyengar throughout Sardinia, Italy and beyond! The centre has been created to offer a place of refuge (ashraya in Sanskrit)for the practice of Yoga and of study of this ancient discipline to anyone interested in their own evolution. The logo represents a lotus flower, symbol of purity, with eight petals (one for each limb of yoga). In the centre the yoga pose Virabhadrasana I, dedicated to the powerful warrior Virabhadra. Warriors in ancient times were those who provided protection and fought on religious principles. Arjuna, the main character of the Bhagavad Gita is the embodiment of the virtuous warrior to whom Krishna imparts the most confidential knowledge: Yoga.
